The RLQ is one of the most commonly tested abdominal regions on the USMLE/COMLEX exams. In this podcast, I run through many of the HY pathologies associated with the RLQ and make numerous integrations that should help you score easy points on your test.

Hi! Just want to clarify the rules for appendicitis management. NBME 13 for Step 2 and UWorld have conflicting rules. NBME 13 states that imaging of any kind is NOT needed if there is a strong clinical picture for appendicitis, and that we should not delay surgery for imaging (even in stable patients). UWorld states that imaging is REQUIRED in both adults & children. It states we should do a CT scan for most adults and US for pregnant women and children to avoid radiation. Taking Step 2 soon and am not sure how to answer these questions given these contradicting guidelines. For children and/or adults should we skip imaging if the clinical picture is clear?
I would go with what the NBMEs say in this case.
