Divine Intervention Episode 83 – USMLE Step 1 Hematology Review (Part 5)

In this episode, I continue our discussion of Heme-Onc as relevant to the USMLE Step 1 with a focus on all the major anemias (with a few exceptions for the next podcast). I utilize multiple modalities to test the same concept as a means of encouraging retention. In view of this, there are attached slides with questions that you can follow through with as you listen to the audio file. There will be 1 more podcast targeted to Heme-Onc and that should conclude the series.

Divine Intervention Episode 81 – USMLE Step 1 Hematology Review Part 3 (Oncology)

In this episode, I continue our discussion of Heme-Onc as relevant to the USMLE Step 1. This podcast focuses on the hematologic malignancies that are not leukemias or lymphomas (those will be discussed in other podcasts). There are no attached slides.

Divine Intervention Episode 80 -USMLE Step 1 Hematology Part 2

In this episode, I continue our discussion of hematology as relevant to the USMLE Step 1 and largely conclude my discussion of platelets and their disorders. I also discuss some weird “systemic” diseases with hematologic findings that tend to show up on the USMLEs. Between Episodes 79/80, you should become a platelet expert. You can safely skip parts of the podcast where I begin to go into the pathophysiology underlying APLS. However, it may be a useful explanation for those thirsty for more understanding. I am also adding a small slide supplement that essentially describes APLS pathophysiology/testing in words.

Divine Intervention Episode 79 – USMLE Step 1 Hematology Part 1

In this episode, I begin a comprehensive review series on Heme/Onc for the USMLE Step 1 Exam. This will ultimately be in about 5-10 parts (covering essentially all in FA for The USMLE Step 1, 2019 edition) but I should be able to cover the breath of Heme/Onc material as relevant to Step 1. In this podcast, I discuss platelets (and associated disorders) primarily but go on to integrate a lot of immunology, nephrology, and associated pharmacology. There are potentially 5-6 questions you would correctly answer on the exam as a result of this podcast. As an aside, there are already podcasts devoted to Heme-Onc Pharm and some heme pathologies (they are one of my earlier episodes). There are no attached slides.

Divine Intervention Episode 78 – Gram Negative Rapid Review (+ Zoonotics)

In this episode, I discuss HY information relating to all the gram negatives highlighted in the gram negative algorithm in First Aid For The USMLE Step 1 (2019). I integrate a lot of HY basic science disciplines along the way. I also discuss the zoonotics (brucella, pasteurella, Ehrlichia, Rickettsia), chlamydia species, syphilis, and lyme disease (B. Burgdorferi). Between Episodes 77 and 78 and a good knowledge of antibiotics (earlier podcasts), you should be able to crush a large number of “bacteria” questions with the notable exception of Mycobacterial Species which are discussed in an older podcast. There are no attached slides.

Divine Intervention Episode 77 – Gram Positive Rapid Review.

In this episode, I review all the HY USMLE information related to the gram positive organisms highlighted in the gram +ve chart in FA for the USMLE Step 1 (2019). This would be a good podcast to listen to before a micro quiz/exam/USMLE Step 1. The primary purpose of this was to provide a medium that would pull everything together for the listener prior to a micro exam. There are no attached slides. For a detailed discussion of the antibiotics, consider listening to Episodes 27-28, 33-35. Note that these episodes cover all antibiotics that could reasonably be tested on the USMLEs broken down by class (antibacterials etc etc).

Divine Intervention Episode 76 – How To Study For The USMLE Step 1 Exam (for M1s and M2s).

In this podcast, I go into a detailed discussion of the USMLE Step 1 including exam structure, study resources, and specific recommendations that should help with doing well on the test. Lengthy podcast but well worth your time in the end. You should also strongly consider Episode 62 especially if you are a medical student/about to start medical school. There are no attached slides.

Divine Intervention Episode 75 – USMLE Step 3/Medicine ITE/ABIM Board Review Series 2 (Endocrinology)

In this podcast, I continue our review by going over a vast majority of the endocrinology that is potentially testable on these exams while integrating multiple disciplines. I plan to have one more podcast where I finish up my discussion of endocrine to essentially form a thorough endocrinology review for the highlighted exams. There are no attached slides.

Divine Intervention Episode 74 – USMLE Step 3/Medicine ITE/ABIM Board Review Series 1

In this podcast (series 1 of many to come), I begin to discuss topics that are targeted primarily towards residents preparing for the USMLE Step 3 exam and the Internal Medicine In Training Exam (ITE). This would also potentially help with the medicine boards but that is not my primary focus with this podcast. I utilize a format where I present a classic vignette, highlight the diagnosis, spend an extended period discussing the testable information relating to the diagnosis (and related diseases), and then give some HY info at the end relating to tests that should be ordered (especially for the CCS portion of Step 3). There are no attached slides as all information is in the podcast.
